Free days out in Kent

Because the best Sunday isn't always the most expensive one. There's a specific kind of Sunday that Kent does better than anywhere — the one where you leave the house with nothing but snacks, end up somewhere green and massive, and the kids are filthy and exhausted by 3pm. Entry fee: zero. Kent has more country parks than most people realise, and the best of them don't feel like a consolation prize. Trosley has proper trails through ancient woodland. Shorne Woods has an adventure playground that'll hold a five-year-old's attention for two hours. Jeskyns, just outside Gravesend, has a play area that honestly puts some paid attractions to shame. The catch — and there usually is one — is parking. A few of the council-run parks charge a couple of quid to leave the car. We've noted it where it matters, but it's rarely more than £2-3 and it's still a fraction of what you'd spend anywhere with a wristband and a gift shop. Everything on this list is free to enter.
