Hastings Beach is a classic British seaside stretch with a bit more character than your average bucket-and-spade stop. Reviews mention both the beach itself and the Old Town nearby, so this feels like one for families who want a simple day by the sea with a side order of history and local life. The strong points are the cleanliness, the peaceful atmosphere, and the easy family appeal: paddling, fishing, shell-spotting, and fish and chips all get a mention. There’s also disabled access and a path down to the beach, which is genuinely useful if you’re hauling a pram, picnic, or small child who has suddenly decided they can’t possibly walk another step. The less glamorous bits are worth knowing too. Toilets cost 40p, and while there are cafés and chip shops nearby, the reviews don’t exactly rave about the coffee or seating. It sounds more like a practical seaside day out than a polished attraction, which, frankly, is often the better deal.
