Big on turtles, sharks and rainy-day salvation; less so on noise and the occasional faff.

What’s it actually like?
SEA LIFE Brighton is a family aquarium in a historic building, with the big draw being the main tank, turtles, sharks and a mix of fish, bugs and spiders. Reviews also mention talks, feeding times and a see-through boat trip, which sounds like the sort of add-on children will either adore or talk about for weeks afterwards. Parents seem properly pleased with the staff, who are described as knowledgeable, friendly and good at sharing extra details. It scores well for pram access, ramps, baby-changing facilities and generally being clean and easy to get around. The annual pass at £32 also sounds like a decent shout if you live locally or plan to go more than once. The downsides are fairly typical for a popular attraction: it can get busy, the background music is sometimes too loud, and the accessible entrance is not well signposted. The café is handy for a break, but nobody is pretending Costa in an aquarium is the main event. Worth knowing that this is more a two-to-three-hour visit than a full day out.
Two-minute orientation
Quick read
A solid Brighton aquarium with enough sea life, interactive bits and talks to keep kids interested for a good couple of hours. Best for younger children, buggy users and repeat visits thanks to the annual pass and decent facilities. Do note the music can be loud, the accessible entrance is awkwardly signed, and the café is more practical than special.
