Classic seaside fun, but the height rules and extra charges may test your patience.
The long read worth saving for nap time
What’s it actually like?
Brighton Palace Pier is a classic British pier with amusement rides, arcade games, food stalls and plenty of space for a wander by the sea. It’s the sort of place where children can burn through pocket money very quickly, while adults pretend they’re only here for the chips and the view. Families liked the variety: arcades for all ages, trampolines, soft play, food stalls, benches and toilets. Several reviews mention that you can pay per ride or buy a wristband, and that queues were not too bad on at least one Sunday visit. The fish and chips, doughnuts and nuggets got solid praise too. The snag is the usual seaside one: it’s not exactly cheap, and the height restrictions caused frustration for some parents, especially with younger children. One reviewer also felt the wristband setup was misleading. If your child is tall enough for the rides, it looks like a good-value-ish day out; if not, you may end up paying for a lot of arcade tokens and disappointment.
Two-minute orientation
Quick read
Brighton Palace Pier is a proper seaside day out: rides, arcades, snacks and sea views. Good for mixed-age families, especially children who like funfair-style attractions. Less ideal for very small children if they’re below the height limits, and costs can stack up.
