Kew’s Children’s Garden is a large, outdoorsy play space designed around how plants grow, with different zones for climbing, digging, touching and running about. Reviews mention a canopy walk, mature trees, a sand area and plenty of interactive bits, so it’s more than just a token playground. The big win here is variety. Parents say children of different ages can all get stuck in, and even adults seem to enjoy wandering through it. Timed entry also helps stop it feeling rammed, which is a rare mercy in London family days out. The downside is upkeep. One review complains that something is always broken and that the water play area has been out of service for two years, which is not great at all.
