Buchan Country Park

Buchan Country Park is a straightforward Sussex country park: woods, a lake, colour-marked routes and enough space for a proper walk rather than a token lap. Reviewers clearly love it for dog walking, photography and the fact that you can choose between shorter and longer routes. For families, the big plus is that it feels easy and low-stress. Parking is free, the car park is reported to have plenty of space, and there’s a little cafe plus clean toilets. The dog dip/swim area is a bonus if you’ve brought the family pet along, and the changing autumn colours sound like the sort of thing that actually gets children looking up from their screens for five minutes. It’s not a day-out packed with built-in entertainment, so younger children may need a pushchair, snacks and a bit of imagination. Seating is not mentioned much in the reviews, and the cafe sounds more serviceable than destination-worthy. In other words: lovely for a walk, less so if you were hoping for a full attraction with bells, whistles and a gift shop that charges £4.50 for a flapjack.
